Hodan Osman
Therapist, Social Worker, Community Builder
I'm Hodan Osman, a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist (MSW, RSW) based in Ontario, and the founder of Ebla Therapy & Consulting. I provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive, faith-integrated therapy for Black, Muslim, and racialized women in Toronto, across the Greater Toronto Area, and province-wide.
My Story
I grew up in Toronto, and from an early age I understood what it meant to navigate systems that weren't built with you in mind. That experience, and the gaps I witnessed in mental health care for women like me, is what eventually led me here.
I spent over 15 years working in community-based settings, supporting youth, teens, and women (including pregnant and parenting women) through some of life's hardest transitions. In 2018, during my own maternity leave, I returned to school for my Master of Social Work, deepening my clinical training while raising my family. That decision changed the direction of everything.
I founded Ebla Therapy & Consulting because the space I wanted to offer my clients didn't exist: a therapy practice that is genuinely culturally grounded, shame-free, and built for Black, Muslim, and racialized women who have spent too long feeling unseen in clinical settings.
Our Name
The name “Ebla” is deeply personal. It is both inspired by the Somali phrase “ceeb la” (عيب لا), which means “without shame,” and is the name of Hodan’s grandmother, Ebla—a woman remembered for her fierce independence, courage, and refusal to be silenced. Rooted in this meaning and legacy, Ebla Therapy & Consulting creates a culturally grounded, compassionate space where clients can heal and grow without fear or stigma.
Our Approach
My work is trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally grounded. I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy adapted to fit you, your culture, and your values. Faith and spirituality are welcome in our sessions; you'll never have to leave that part of yourself at the door.
I believe healing looks different for everyone. My role is not to tell you who you should be. It's to walk alongside you as you figure out who you want to become.
